The Firearms Policy Coalition says they have filed a lawsuit challenging New Jersey’s ban on Short-barreled rifles (SBRs).
While a lawsuit is putting up a challenge to the entire National Firearms Act after the Big Beautiful bill passed, another legal challenge is probably needed for gun owners, looking for multiple avenues to attack the NFA.
While SBRs were banned years ago, the state reaffirmed its ban this year.
FPC President Brandon Combs said in a press release, in part,
Supreme Court precedent makes clear that arms in common use for lawful purposes—like the rifles at issue here—are fully protected by the Second Amendment. We are excited to work towards eliminating this ban so you can exercise your rights when, where, and how you choose.”
A total of eight states have outright bans on SBRs.
