A 28‑year‑old Florida man is dead after an attempted armed robbery in Miami Gardens, and police believe he was the suspect who initiated the crime.
Authorities have not released the man’s name. The individual who shot him remained at the scene and told officers he was a delivery driver who was being robbed. He said he drew his firearm and fired in self‑defense.
As of this writing, no charges have been filed.
Neighbors told reporters the delivery driver was asking residents for home‑security footage to support his account of the attempted robbery.
Florida has some of the strongest self‑defense protections in the country, including its Stand Your Ground statute, which allows individuals to meet force with force and does not require retreat when they are lawfully present.
