New Tracker Exposes Left’s Latest Anti‑Gun Strategy: Lawfare Over Legislation

Two national gun‑control organizations, Giffords and Everytown, have teamed up to launch a new online tracker designed to brag about the lawsuits they’ve filed, or plan to file, against firearm manufacturers.

The groups rolled out the tracker just days ago, and nothing screams frivolous lawfare quite like celebrating lawsuits against companies that had zero involvement in the crimes being used as the basis for these cases. This is the left’s latest attempt to attack the Second Amendment after legislative efforts have repeatedly failed.

In their joint announcement, Giffords and Everytown stated:

Gun owners have warned for years that lawfare would become the gun‑control lobby’s new weapon. A quick look at the tracker shows most plaintiffs are either crime victims or government entities. Instead of suing the criminals who actually harmed them, they’re targeting manufacturers who had no responsibility for the acts committed.

These are exactly the types of lawsuits the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA) was designed to prevent.

And this trend should alarm gun owners far beyond the courtroom. We’re watching governments across the country experiment with similar tactics, targeting manufacturers or companies in red states for issues they aren’t responsible for. GNN previously covered threats coming from Meta-backed legislation aimed at Apple and Google’s app stores.

Under these proposals, governments want the power to sue Apple or Google if they don’t impose age verification on all apps, including pro‑gun apps. It’s all packaged as “protecting kids,” but the real goal is giving government a new way to punish companies for things they didn’t do.

Sound familiar?

How long before anti‑gun states use these same tactics to go after firearms or ammunition manufacturers under the guise of “safety,” just like these app‑store verification bills? Gun owners must look beyond the surface; these lawsuits are part of a broader strategy.

This new tracker should serve as a wake‑up call for gun owners, and especially for those in manufacturing or retail. The attack is already underway, and it’s imperative that we fight with everything we have to stop it.
