Two separate fatal shootings in Warren, Michigan, on August 9 have been ruled self‑defense or defense of others, according to the Warren Police Department.
Police say two individuals who were initially taken into custody have now been released. Both were concealed pistol license holders, and investigators determined their actions were lawful.
In the first incident, a 28‑year‑old man was fatally shot after assaulting his father and threatening to kill others inside the home. His own brother, also a CPL holder, was forced to shoot him to protect himself and the rest of the family.
Later that same evening, a 40‑year‑old man showed up uninvited at his former girlfriend’s home. Police say he assaulted her and then attacked her boyfriend. The boyfriend, who legally carried a concealed firearm, shot the man in self‑defense.
These two cases underscore a hard reality: if you choose to assault or threaten people, you may find yourself facing someone who is armed and legally prepared to defend innocent life.
The question criminals should be asking is simple: is the violence worth your life?
