Criminal Mauled to Death by Dogs After Breaking into Georgia Home

Sometimes firearms aren’t needed to defend one’s home against criminals breaking and entering.

A Georgia man learned the hard way that it doesn’t pay to break into people’s homes in Georgia. Typically, stories like this end with a homeowner shooting and killing or injuring a criminal to protect themselves or their families.

However, in Newnan, Georgia, a homeowner arrived and found a man lying dead on his porch.

Police say the man tried to enter the home when several dogs attacked him. The man apparently made it outside of the house but died on the porch not long after the dogs attacked him.

No criminal charges are expected to be filed at this time against the homeowner, but the dogs were taken by animal control.

While guns are certainly the best choice for a homeowner to defend themselves, who says that man’s best friend can’t also help protect your home?

The dogs should NOT have been taken. They were protecting their home.

Procedures following a death should be followed. Dogs will be returned to owners unless the dogs have a record of similar attacks. Public safety…. Any protests following this event ???

The dogs should be returned. The criminal created the situation that caused the dogs to attack him.
Hopefully animal control will return the dogs.

I can’t understand why they took these dogs from their home, within their own territory. Makes no sense! They did what was right. They would not get mine for sure !

Unfortunately in a situation like this the dogs are taken away after someone has reported to have been injured or killed and assessed and if they deem the dogs to be dangerous then are destroyed in certain states . Every state has different laws about dogs injuring someone .
Georgia has some of the most complex “dog” laws . And even sometimes signs up of “beware of dog” can be used against you unfortunately in certain cases , crazy I know!!

As a dog owner I feel this is very wrong to do as the dogs were defending their home , if the dogs were inside the house or behind a fence , then they shouldn’t be removed period , but sometimes the laws dictate otherwise.
Hoping the owner is quickly reunited with they’re dogs.

That sounds like another cowardly LIBERAL approach to a crime. So what if the home intruder was mauled by guard dogs and they killed him?? I’M GLAD THEY KILLED HIM. The bastard was trying to ROB THE HOUSE WHERE THE DOGS LIVED..IT WAS THEIR HOME AND THEY WERE NATURALLY PROTECTING IT.. And he might have killed the home owners and/or the dogs. YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT THE CRIMINAL MIGHT HAVE DONE.
You cannot hold the dogs responsible; that guy knew the risk, especially if there were warning signs posted. The blame goes on the home intruder..too damn bad for him. But the dogs are innocent! Return them to their owner and there should no more said. Enough! Right is right and wrong is wrong.

Criminals are protected more than victims today. I’m sure the dogs barked their heads off. The intruder was given ample warning. If a home owner shoots and kills an intruder in their home, they get arrested. The charges my be dropped but the arrest is till on your records. It appears that this applies to dogs as well.

Most likely the dogs will be returned to the family, with any crime, law enforcement has to investigate and a hearing . The dogs were on their own property and confined in their own yard. The intruder will be found to have “ broken and entered “and it would be his fault. Family will get their dogs back.

I think that once a dog has killed a person no matter the situation the authorities have to euthanize the dog. It’s terrible but I think it’s the law.
